If you read this blog a lot, it should come as no surprise how much I love to read. I started reviewing books to keep up with my book addictions. I enjoy pretty much every genre of books. That being said, there a few genres that I read the most. I am an avid reader of biographies and people’s accounts of historical events as I want to know what makes people tick. Out of all historical events, the Holocaust is the one I’ve read about the most. It started with Corrie ten Boom and has continued throughout my life. I read at least one book about the Holocaust every season. I do this for several reasons:
To Never Forget
To Encourage Empathy
To Gain Understanding
To Relate To Others
To Discourage Racism & Intolerance
I never want to forget what happened during that era of time. By reading these books, my mind is fresh with the knowledge of what happened and who the individuals were. It’s important to me to keep the memory alive.
Is there a time period or event you read about a lot? What are your reasons for it?
